Rusted Earth

Inspired by the raw hues of clay, iron, and soft sand.

The works stay close to the land itself, drawn to iron in the soil, bracken going over, the particular warmth that rises when the green has drained away and what's left is ochre, flint, and rust. They sit a little further into abstraction than most, with more attention to surface and texture than to horizon, built up in layered watercolour so the ground feels organic rather than carefully painted. Each piece is professionally mounted on acid-free, warm white board, ready for framing.

Together, the works look out across the land in layers, ridge behind ridge, each band of colour settled over the one before it, like something laid down over decades.
